On May 21, Liu Guoliang, the Associate Researcher from the Department of Palace Life and Imperial Ritual at The Palace Museum, led us to review two ancient and elegant Qin Zithers. The first, “The Song Shi Jian Yi imperial Qin Zither”, was sold at auction for hundreds of millions of dollars and is regarded as the most expensive in the world. The second is “Harmony with Integrity and placidity” Zither (Zhong He Qin), an imperial instrument made in the Ming Dynasty. Our professional teacher also performed the ancient song “Liu Shui (Flowing Water)” live. Just like the old saying “high mountain and flowing water” which refers to understanding and appreciating friends when melodious music is playing.
