With beginnings in the Xia dynasty, ancient Chinese coins were widely utilized during the Shang dynasty and were standardized in the Qin dynasty. Throughout their 4,000-year history, Chinese coins created over 70 world records. In this current age, ancient coins are more than representations of trading in history, but miniatures of the cultural, scientific and technological developments, as well as economic and political systems of various historical periods. This week, “Poly-online: A View on Art” will bring you its 14th episode – An Outline of Ancient Coins, featuring Wang Chao and Ma Siqi, Managers of Poly International Auction’s Stamps, Coins and Bank Notes Department. By revealing the value of coin collections, they will help us appreciate coins of all shapes and kinds. Let’s come together and explore the world of ancient coins, laden with the marks of time, traces of human wisdom, and the charm of long-standing history and culture!
